Grandma’s and Granddad’s Day in Poland

9 th January-11th  February 2012
Infant children
On the 20 th January in Poland we celebrate the Grandma’s and Granddad’s Day. This day grandchildren usually give their grandparents hand-made presents, small gifts and cards. In our school the youngest children prepared something special for this occasion. There was a school play, hand-made cookies, a lot of poems and songs for beloved grandparents who were invited to school that day.

On Art lesson we made paper snowmen and winter’s pictures. We used small pieces of fabric and glue.

Class IV-VI
On Science lesson we studied the weather : the temperature, the strength of the wind and its direction etc. That day was one of the coldest day during this year’s winter-the temperature reached -24*C during the day! Everything around was icy!

We had a lecture with a forestry’s worker who told us how to help animals survive this frosty winter. We also learned a lot about the nature reserves in Poland and animals which live in our country. It was really interesting.

On 9 th February there was a school carnival party. The youngest pupils had a fancy-dress party, and there was a competition for the most original costume.  Not only supermen, batmen, Indians, Princesses, fairies but also a lot of others cartoon characters came alive this evening. The older pupils had a disco party and they were dancing for songs long hours. There was also a short concert of school band, in which our mates from higher classes play and the soloist of this band is our PE teacher! It was really great! We all had a good time.

And now we are having two-week-winter holiday. Hooray!!!!
