Junior Infants
Last week Junior Infants learnt about patterns. They are making patterns with counters and bears.
They did splatter painting in art.

In music they learnt about fast and slow music.
They learnt the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty. They made Humpty Dumpty jigsaws. They coloured and cut out his picture and then made a jigsaw.
Last Friday Hans came to talk about water conservation. When water gets cold it freezes. He got them to bunch together.

When water gets hot it turns to steam. He got them to move like crazy.
Now they are steam!!
He showed them different species of flies and insects that live in water.
Some fresh water insects and flies.

Senior Infants
Hi i'm Matilda. Today I will be telling you what Senior Infants did in class last week.
The children have a new role play area in the classroom for playtime in the morning.
This week they have a doctor's surgery.

Last Friday they did finger painting in art.

We have new markings in our playground such as snakes and ladders.

They do a literacy liftoff three times a week. Four adults come into their classroom.
They each teach a different aspect of English e.g. reading, writing and word work.

First and Second Classes

Hi. I'm Sarah. Today I will be telling you what 1st and 2nd class did last week. They planted cress seeds in bottles they cut in half. They covered the top in cling film and the cress grew.

Holly's granny came in to talk about history. She told them what life was like for her when she was younger.

On Friday they got one hundred marbles in their marble jar. They can get up to five marbles a day depending on how good they are. Because they had reached 100 marbles they got to watch a movie called Rio.
First Class have started swimming for the first time. They love it! In art, they used stencils.

They recently started dancing. They have a great laugh.
They are learning to write letters. First Class wrote letters from Goldilocks to Baby Bear and Second Class sent letters to Willy Wonka.
They are reading a novel called "Marco Moves In."

Third and Fourth Classes
We do rugby skills on Wednesday and hurling skills on Thursday.
A guard (policeman) came into our class and told us about safety in the car and on the road
A fireman came in another day and told us sometimes people call the firemen and there wouldn’t be a fire at the address. If your clothes are on fire you have to get on the ground and roll around on the ground.
Hans came in and he was talking about water. You can float better in salt water better than fresh water.
Raindrops fall into the shape of a burger bun.

Fifth and Sixth Classes We have 29 pupils in our class and we all pick our most favourite subjects. This is what we thought. 7 liked art, 2 liked maths, 5 liked history, 21 liked P.E, 2 liked geography, 4 liked english, 13 liked science, 13 liked religion and 9 liked drama.
On Friday a man came in to talk about water conservation. We are trying to get our third green flag.
How much water do each of these household items use per day?

This is our second green flag.
We started tag rugby and hurling skills in the ball-court. Trainers come to teach us on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We have also started to learn the tin whistle. Padraic Sinnott comes in on Thursday afternoons. We go swimming with the school on a Tuesday. 5th and 6th class making their Confirmation in April. The boys have a Rackard League team and we play matches every week.
This is a picture of a hurl and a helmet. We have to wear helmets when we are playing.
CCTV cameras were put up in the yard so nobody would cause trouble. We will also have a geography test soon. . We have new white lines in the basketball-court. It has now been marked for soccer.
There are also new lines in the juniors yard. They are for games like hopscotch etc.

We are doing paired Reading with first and second Classes and that is good fun. 5th class is working on a calendar, they are taking photographs every month. We are learning about the great famine and will have a test coming up soon. We are finishing our logos for Our-Place-in-Space.
